This Privacy Policy describes how Justice Lens, operated by Specta LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and handles information when you access or use our platform. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and any other information you provide during registration. Account creation and authentication is handled by Clerk.
Payment Information. If you subscribe to Justice Lens Pro, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details. Stripe provides us with a tokenized reference and basic billing information (e.g., last 4 digits, billing country, subscription status).
Usage Data. We collect information about how you use the Service, including features accessed, AI queries submitted, map interactions, and time spent. This helps us improve the product and understand usage patterns.
Technical Data. Standard server logs may record your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URLs, and pages visited with timestamps. This data is used for security monitoring and aggregate analytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Service
- Manage your account and subscription
- Process payments and prevent fraud
- Respond to your support requests and inquiries
- Send transactional communications (e.g., billing receipts, account notices)
- Monitor for abuse, security threats, and violations of our Terms of Service
- Analyze usage trends to improve product features
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Third-Party Services
Justice Lens integrates with the following third-party providers. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

- Anthropic: AI chat processing. Your query text is sent to Anthropic's API. Do not submit sensitive personal information through the chat interface. Privacy Policy
- Nominatim / OpenStreetMap: The "Jump to Address" feature sends your entered address to Nominatim for geocoding. No address data is stored by Justice Lens. Privacy Policy
- CARTO: Map tile imagery. Your IP address may be visible to CARTO when map tiles are loaded. Privacy Policy
- Google Analytics / Google Ads: We use Google's gtag.js to collect anonymous usage statistics (pages visited, session duration, general location, device type) and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. 4. Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and local browser storage to maintain your session, store UI preferences, and support authentication via Clerk. In addition, Google Analytics and Google Ads may set cookies (such as _ga and _gcl_aw) to collect anonymous usage data and measure ad conversions. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can also configure your browser to block or delete cookies, though this may affect functionality.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Usage and query logs are retained for up to 12 months for analytics and security purposes. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention or dispute resolution.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.
8. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.
You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data in accordance with our retention policy above.
9. Third-Party Crime Data
Crime incident data displayed on Justice Lens is sourced from DC Open Data and the Metropolitan Police Department. This is public government data. It does not originate from or contain information submitted by users of this Service.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
